Let’s talk about chocolate and hazelnuts. Chocolate has a rich sweetness and hazelnuts have a salty sweetness. Together they create an amazing amalgamation of awesome deliciousness. Still have doubts? Try a spoonful of Nutella or Ben and Jerry’s Hazed and Confused. There will be no denying it after that. Thus, I present my chocolate chip and hazelnut cookies.
I enjoy being healthy and I try really hard at it. But once in a while, it feels really good to indulge in a little unhealthiness. My guilty pleasures include chocolate, chocolate, and anything with chocolate. My favorite desserts include cookies, ice cream, tiramisu, cheesecake, and anything with chocolate. If it was healthy to have nothing but desserts all day long, I probably would do it. But since it’s not, I’ll settle for just once in a while. So, in the wisest words of Parks and Recreation, today you should treat yo self!
This recipe came out of a deep desire to please all the demands of my household. I had a craving for chocolate chip cookies and told my parents I was going to bake some. My dad likes any dessert, and ever since we bought a cookie jar he almost always wants cookies. But my mom doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth. She prefers salty things and requested that I add nuts to the recipe. Naturally, because of my deep love of all things sweet, I thought of hazelnuts first. To add more of a nutty flavor, I also add some crushed almonds to the dough.
The dough is pretty easy to prepare. It’s also a pretty standard chocolate chip recipe, just with a few more nuts added in! As with most things that need to be baked, this recipe will take time and a lot of preparation. Luckily the calories that you burn off running around the kitchen, scrambling for ingredients, and going from bowl to stand mixer to oven to clean up can be made up by eating these cookies! Trust me, it’s worth the extra effort. Just pour yourself a glass of milk and treat yo self!
